Micro-Hydro is a process of generating electricity by the flowing of water over a turbine that’s connected to a power generator.  The basic tenet of micro-hydro is that the vertical drop of water creates a pressure (called “head”), the pressure physically moves a turbine which drives the generator. Application for this technology is mostly limited to areas that happen to have a nearby source of flowing water with adequate elevation change. However, for those who do have the resource – the benefits of electrical generation can be great since power generation can occur around the clock and can be utilized onsite for fed back to the grid through a power sales agreement with the utility provider.

SBE is partnered with HydroGen Energy – a company that captures under-utilized hydrologic power from wastewater districts. To learn more about HydroGen Energy, click here.
